Their Eyes.... is set in southern America about the life of Janie Crawford, a self-sufficient African American woman who has been through some tough times. She gets into detail about the very interesting life she has lived in her 40 something years and once it gets started you won't want to put the book down. Although the main character is an adult you see her coming of age through her words and the great friendship she has with the best friend she is talking to. Their Eyes were watching God is a great piece of American literature that ventures through some rough territory but is still enlightening. As Janie Crawford starts telling her story you will put yourself in her friends place and listen to what she has to say. Her story is very captivating.
